A 26-year-old Louisville man is spending his sixth summer competing as a professional in motocross events.

Carter Gordon was at the Marion County Fairgrounds on Saturday for the motocross competition.

“In the summer I travel all across the Midwest,” Gordon said, “racing different fair races, chasing the money classes and the pro classes. I’ve been racing professionally since I was about 17, 18 years old and I haven’t stopped.”

Gordon says its more than just getting on a bike.

“I’ve got a nice track by my house that’s similar to this that I get to practice at. I spend a lot of time working out, cycling, running, rowing, lifting weights. A whole bunch of stuff.”

Gordon says he comes from a racing family, watching his uncle compete at the Marion County Motocross as a young child and getting on his first bike at the age of 5.

Gordon took third in the 250 CC competition and 7th in the 450 CC competition at the weekend motocross.

Michael Hicks of Fenton, Missouri was first and won the hole shot in the 250 CC.  Lance Kobusch of Florence, Missouri took first place and won the hole shot in the 450 cc.  In pit bikes, Dalton Foerster of Claremont.
