The weeklong Missoula Children’s Theatre camp concluded with two performances of Treasure Island that attracted over 500 people.

57 young actors ranging from kindergarten to high school worked last week in preparation for the Saturday shows.

One of the co-directors who is touring the Midwest, spending a week in different communities, is Chandler Ryan.

“The kids were very energetic,” Ryan said. “They were very happy to be here and to learn. We had a lot of kids show up early on show day to practice. They came in wanting to go over dances and songs, and that doesn’t happen every week. Sometimes the kids just let it be what it is, but these kids were very excited. They had a lot of drive.”

The other co-director, Joe Tomberlin, was complimentary of campers and the community.

“The kids were super enthusiastic and had great volume throughout the entire process,” Tomberlin said. “Their energy was infectious, and this was honestly a fantastic town to work in. Great energy from the crowds, great energy from the kids, just a great town to be in all around.”

The performances were the last with the old theatre seats.  The theatre will now be idle until after Labor Day to allow for the renovation of the auditorium part of the theatre.
