A Centralia home was gutted by fire early Saturday evening.

Centralia City Firefighters say heavy fire was showing from the rear of the home at 1400 South Elm upon their arrival.  The fire spread through the rest of the home, gutting it, but the roof and walls remained intact.

The owner of the home, Teresa Achorn, was not home when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire will go down as undetermined, due to the extensive damage.

Due to the excessive heat, additional mutual aid was called.  The Centralia Fire Protection District, Kell, and Sandoval Firemen all responded to the scene.   The Centralia District Firemen had an extra crew on standby in the event of another fire in the Centralia area.

The fire call came in at 5:50 Saturday evening.  Firemen were on the scene for about two and a half hours.
