Three Salem men have been charged in Marion County Court with allegedly forcing their way into a woman’s Kell Street apartment and beating up her boyfriend sending him to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.
One of the men, 49-year-old Jeremy Devor of North Shelby Street, is the father of the woman whose apartment was entered, while the other two, 23- year-old Konner Devor and 26-year-old Xander Devor, are the girl’s brothers.
The three were charged with home invasion, criminal trespass to a residence, mob action and domestic battery. Xander Devor was also charged with unlawful restraining for allegedly detaining her sister by holding her down while her boyfriend was allegedly beaten.
The woman said she had opened the door and the three family members forced their way in and went to the kitchen were the alleged victim was sitting and attacked him. She attempted to break up the altercation but was pushed to the ground by Xander and held down with one arm behind her back. Meanwhile, the victim had been pushed to the ground and was being struck by Jeremy and Konner Devor.
State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth sought to detain the three without bond due to the violent nature of the attack, but Judge Mark Stedelin noted they had no criminal records and the only persons at risk were the two in the apartment. The three were ordered to have no contact with them. In addition, the two both obtained orders of protection against the three.
A preliminary hearing has been set for August 19th.
