Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps has announced he will be seeking a second term as sheriff in the Republican primary next March.

Cripps says he has worked day and night to be a Sheriff you can be proud of.  He says he ran from the start to make Marion County safer. Cripps says that was and is still his commitment.

The sheriff says he has been blessed to have an amazing staff that has worked tirelessly to make our communities a safer and better place to live and raise our families.  Cripps says he is so proud of them and what the department has accomplished so far, but notes their work isn’t finished yet.

As promised, Cripps says he has been able to bring school resource officers into four schools. He says they have updated the resources for the deputies to allow them to do the job well, updated the dispatch center which allows them to serve residents better than ever before with new technology.   Training has also been updated with the majority now done in-house, saving overtime and tax dollars.

Cripps says he has also led efforts to improve the Marion County Courthouse and Sheriff’s Office.  He feels many citizens did not know the Sheriff is also the sole custodian of the courthouse as well as the Sheriff’s Office/Jail.  Cripps believes OUR house looks very good and everyone should be very proud.

He says both buildings are pretty solid for the next few years with no major repairs needed. Cripps says the sheriff’s department has signed mutual aid agreements with the Salem and Centralia Police departments which allow more resources when needed.

He’s looking forward to the opportunity to continue pursuing the missions and goals of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in a second term.
