At its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Centralia City Schools Board of Education accepted the resignation of Jordan P.E. teacher Lucas Krutsinger and hired three individuals to fill his roles as teacher, boys’ basketball coach, and boys’ cross-country coach. The board hired Cody Hiller as Jordan P.E. teacher, hired CJHS principal Lance Boldt as boys’ basketball coach, and hired CJHS teacher Caroline Hargis as boys’ cross-country coach. Superintendent Christina Becker said the positions were posted and several applications were received, but the district prefers to have staff already in the district fill open coaching positions.
This was the first regular board meeting for Becker as superintendent and for Beth Hollenkamp as assistant superintendent. Both said they are quickly getting acclimated to their new roles while not much is happening with school out for the summer. In the curriculum report, Hollenkamp said preparations are being made for this year’s new teacher orientation, in which incoming teachers tour the buildings, meet staff, and become familiar with the district and their new positions.
Registration for Kindergarten is scheduled for August 7 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. First through eighth grade registration is August 6 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
