A 54-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced in Jefferson County Court to a total of 24 years in prison for felony retail theft.
Tyrone Alexander received the maximum six-year prison term on each of four retail theft cases, with the judge then ruling the time would be served consecutively. Alexander has a lengthy history of retail theft totaling more than 20 offenses.
Jefferson County Assistant State’s Attorney Brian Merrill handled the contested sentencing hearing.
