Colleen “Honey” (Sparks) Overturf, 80, Nashville, Tennessee, formerly of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on July 2, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born September 21, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Thomas and Faye Sparks.
Colleen lived in residence with her son, Michael Higgins, and daughter-in-law, Lee-Ann, along with her grandsons, Eli and Timothy; she was their “Grandma Honey”. She is survived by her sister, Carol Rector, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and many wonderful nieces and nephews, step-children, and grandchildren whom she acquired in her wonderful life of relationships well-lived.
Mrs. Overturf worked as a waitress at Virginia’s Restaurant and then as a bookkeeper and secretary for many businesses.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. A private burial will be held at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Colleen’s honor to Gracepointe Church, Nashville, Tennessee.
