The Hattie Harmson 4th of July Tournament in Steeleville continues tonight with a pair of games.
At 5pm Sparta will take on Orient followed at 7:30 by Orient and Pinckneyville. The tournament continues on Friday with Steeleville and Marissa at 12:30 followed by Pinckneyville and Sparta at 3. Saturday is the final day with crossover games to determine trophy winners.
The tournament opened yesterday with Aviston beating Steeleville 12-8. Bryce Wieter struck out 11 with 3 hits each from Rowdy Sussenbach and Johnny Hilmes.
In the opening game Aviston stole 8 bases breaking a program record as they beat Marissa 13-0. In 2022 the team stole 112 bases, this season they have tallied 117 so far. In the win, Brady Ceto threw a 2-hit shutout with Sussenbach and Hilmes adding 3 more hits.
