The results for the Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) Patrol in Marion and Wayne counties has been announced by the Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 9 commander, Captain Nathan Douglas.

The ACE patrols allowed the ISP to focus on preventing, detecting, and taking enforcement action in response to violations associated with impaired driving and illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol or drugs.

The violations throughout Marion and Wayne counties include:

Driving under the influence (DIU) citation – 1

Occupant restraint offenses – 1

Registration offenses – 8

Driver’s license offenses – 4

Insurance violations – 1

Speed violations – 11

The total citations and arrests added up to 7, and the total amount of written warnings was 36.

Alcohol and drug impairment are estimated to be a factor in more than 47% of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois. There is one alcohol-related traffic accident every 39 minutes in the U.S. The ACE program allows officers to work even harder at removing dangerous DUI offenders from the road.
