Salem Township Hospital CEO Jim Timpe says the $17-million renovation and expansion project of the emergency and operating room project remains on schedule.
He provided an update to the hospital board Wednesday afternoon.
“Our vendor has the bids out for the project,” Timpe said. “They’re expecting those back July 17, and then they’ll have a discussion with us about where to go from there and we should be able to start scheduling phase 1 of the project.”
Timpe reported a temporary gravel employee parking lot would be created in a grassy area near Broughton and North Point Drive to allow for the defective concrete north of the helipad to be replaced. Employee parking will then return to its normal location. The gravel lot will then be used as a staging area for the construction project.
The hospital board heard from Surgeon Dr. Mark Murfin who was unhappy with the scheduling process for the operating rooms and the area available to Doctor’s to update their information for the record information system. After the meeting, Timpe reacted to Murfin’s presentation.
“We appreciate Dr. Murfin coming and talking to us, and of course we appreciate any physician who wants to give feedback about the hospital or their concerns and what they need changed. Of course, we treat all of our physicians with the greatest respect, because they’re the backbone of the hospital.”
The board took no action after hearing Murfin’s report.
The board was told the hospital provided $300,000 in charity care.
