One person was injured late Tuesday morning when a car and pickup truck crashed when merging from two to one lanes on West Main at Illinois Street in Salem.
Salem Police say the crash occurred when 39-year-old Kandice Hempen of Maplewood Avenue in Salem was moving to the right lane as the left lane ended and struck the rear of a pickup truck driven by 80-year-old Donald Shumaker of North Trenary in Salem.
A 17-year-old juvenile male in Hempen's vehicle was transported to Salem Township Hospital by United Medical Response for treatment of injuries. Both drivers and a second passenger in Hempen’s vehicle, a 16-year-old juvenile girl, escaped injury.
The crash occurred at 11:45 Tuesday morning.
