The Centralia City Council on Monday approved a development agreement with Rueter Byrd, LLC from TIF #5 financing eligible expenses for the new Byrd Watson Pharmacy being built at 790 West McCord. City manager Galen Mahle says that having a development agreement in the works was essential to get the pharmacy built in Centralia. Tyler Reuter, co-owner of Reuter Byrd, was present at the meeting and thanked the city for their help in making investments in Centralia like the new pharmacy feasible.

The council accepted the audited financial statements for 2024. The audit was done by CJ Schlosser & Company, and Jeremy Henderson presented the financial report. It was a clean audit that showed the city ending the year with more cash than it started with at the same time expenses increased due to ongoing projects, repairs, and wage increases. The city issued $4,715,849 of debt and 2024 and paid off $607,173. Most of the debt issuance was applicable to the new water treatment plant, while the remaining debt was issued for new vehicles and mobile data computers for the police department.

A cable franchise agreement with Charter Communications was renewed for ten years, with an automatic five-year extension if neither party opts out.

The council approved a development agreement disbursement of $14,090.55 for Blue Fish 44, LLC, owners of Scooter’ s Coffee in Centralia.

In the consent agenda, the board approved lifting the Raccoon Lake speed limit for the National Boat Racing Association races in August, as well as a fireworks display over Lake Centralia on Saturday, July 5.
