Illinois’ US Congressional Delegation is split on party lines to President Donald Trump’s decision to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities over the weekend.

Republican Congressman Mike Bost says he trusts that President Trump made the decision due to intelligence that indicates the regime was within reach of developing nuclear weapons that could threaten the lives of American citizens and US troops stationed around the globe.

Democratic U.S. Senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin both warn the country could be drawn into another Middle East War without the Constitutionally required Congressional Approval.  Duckworth says the Trump administration must immediately come before Congress not only to provide our troops with the confidence that their Commander in Chief is upholding the Constitution that they swore to support and defend, but also because it is her constitutional responsibility to make sure Trump is not getting us into yet another quagmire in the Middle East.

Iran has indicated they have a right to make a response to the bombing, but have not yet said what that might include.
