Odin is getting a self-serve bakery.
Paula Henry of 303 Penfield outlined her plans to the Odin Village Board Thursday night. She plans to install a 16 by 10 foot building at her residence where she will have fresh baked items placed by six each morning. There will be a box for payments that will operate on the honor system.
The board noted they didn’t have any zoning requirements and the regulations she would have to follow would come from the Marion County Health Department. They wished her well on the venture.
Odin Mayor Greg Smith swore in KD Lynch as the new village clerk. Lynch will replace Susan Gordon who did not seek re-election in April but has stayed on until a new clerk could be found. Gordon will be available to assist Lynch on an as-needed basis for the rest of the year.
The board was told at this point they don’t have enough points to obtain a $2.2-million grant to make water line improvements. However, if others above them on the list decline the money or get it from another source, it is still possible Odin would get the money.
The board agreed to move forward on one section of the project even if they don’t get the grand money. Smith says a section of waterline near Crooked Creek has been exposed and needs to be fixed in the near future. The estimated cost is $105,000.
