Salem Mayor Nic Farley presented outgoing City Manager Annette Sola a plaque of appreciation for 25 years of service to the city at Monday night’s city council meeting. It will be the last she attends before retiring.
Sola rose from secretary to public works director before becoming city manager. Farley says she will be missed.
“She’s really been a great leader in our city,” Farley said. “Her first day on the job she had a roof partially collapse. She hit the ground running on day one. I couldn’t be more proud of the accomplishments that you’ve had over the last 25 years. It’s meant a lot not just to me being mayor, but the city as a whole has greatly benefitted from your leadership and expertise. You care about our community and it shows.”
Sola in turn thanked the city.
“You’ve given me a lot of opportunity and put a lot of trust in me,” Sola said. “It’s been good. This group that’s out here are the next up-and-coming, and I’m excited to keep up on them and see where we go from here.”
New City Manager Lisa Peck presided over her first meeting Monday night and in her report once again thanked the city council for the opportunity.
