Heavy rains across Marion County have caused some roads to flood in the usual low-lying areas. That includes the Salem Township Roads across the Crooked Creek Bottoms and the roads in the Skillet Fork Bottoms.
The Salem Water Plant recorded 1.92 inches of rain, and the Centralia Water Treatment Plant had 1.36 inches of rain over 24 hours.
All gates of Raccoon Lake are closed so flooding in the bottoms below the lake has eased.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Salem Fire Protection District was called to a vehicle stranded in water on the South College Street Extension around three Tuesday morning. The lone female occupant was helped out of a couple feet of water.
Another vehicle became stranded in high water on Copple Road southeast of Centralia.
