The Salem City Council Monday night will discuss a number of projects, including Flock Cameras, a Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Streetscape Plan, and Repealing and replacing the Flood Plain Ordinance.
Police Chief Todd Boles is recommending the FLOCK Safety License Plate Readers which he says offer a numerous advantages including crime detection and prevention, faster investigations, enhanced officer safety and resource efficiency.
The council will be asked to pass a bicycle, pedestrian and streetscape plan to assist the city in obtaining grants including safe routes to schools. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is requiring the city to repeal its current floodplain ordinance and replace it with a new version following flooding in the city in early April.
A Pre-Development Agreement in the proposed TIF4 District with Glen Henderson to allow him to remodel and expand his Salem Tire Operation in Salem will come before the council.
The council will be asked to approve a special use permit for Moore Than Behavior to utilize the former My School Building at 400 South Pruyn for his facility. Another special use permit for Jered Gambill to have a housing unit on the second floor of 210 West Main will also be brought to the council. Both have already been approved by the Planning Commission. The council will be asked to award bids two purchase two new service trucks for the public works department and two new mowers for the parks department.
A closed session is on the agenda for sale of real estate and litigation. The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
