The Marion County Treasurer’s Office has announced the mailing of 2024 payable 2025 Real Estate Bills.
The total number of bills is 34,464. The total amount of Marion County Real Estate Tax billed is $46,740,744.98 plus $2,146,277.04 for Railroad Taxes.
The amount of the tax bills is up $ 1.5 million from last year, or just over three percent higher.
The due dates of this year’s bills are July 24th and September 25th.
County Treasurer Gary Purcell is encouraging everyone to make sure they have received any and all bills that you are responsible for paying before the due dates. This applies to everyone with property in Marion County, but it especially applies to anyone who has settled estates, paid off mortgages or refinanced with someone new, sold or bought property or transferred property or made any mailing address changes.
The Treasurer’s Office is in Room 105, first floor, by the Elevator, in the Marion County Courthouse. It is open from eight am to four pm Monday through Friday, exclusive of holidays. The physical office accepts cash, debit, credit, checks, cashier checks, or money orders. The drop box on the west side of the courthouse is available for checks or money orders with payment stubs. You may also go to most local banks or credit unions and pay with cash or check. You may use debit, credit or e-check from home as well by visiting ilmarion.com or there will be a phone number to call on the back of your tax bill.
If making payments at the Marion County Courthouse, please be prepared for a security screening and occasional limited parking.
Please do not send cash through the mail or put cash in the drop box.
