Four Centralia businesses allegedly sold alcohol to a minor during a recent State Police Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement surveillance in Marion County.

Illinois State Police Zone 8 Commander Holly Finney says 24 locations in all were visited during the surveillance.   The ultimate goals are to enforce underage drinking laws and save lives by preventing impaired driving crashes and fatalities.

Those cited for sale to a minor were 37-year-old Ismael Moises-Oropeza of Centralia at O.S. Tequila, Inc. in the Fairview Shopping Center, 52-year-old Kristina Hargis of Centralia at Aldi, Inc., 42-year-old Marc Peterson of Centralia at the Centralia Walmart Fuel Station, and 50-year-old Tammy Crabtree of Centralia at Arizona Joe’s on South Hickory Street.   Sale to a minor is a class A misdemeanor charge.

Illinois State Police are commending the 20 other establishments that did not sell alcohol to minors.

The project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
