The Centralia Fire Department will begin conducting pre-incident surveys at commercial, industrial, and select residential properties throughout the city as part of its ongoing efforts to improve emergency response and ensure public safety.

These surveys are not fire code inspections, but rather a proactive initiative to collect vital information that can help firefighters respond more effectively.

Centralia Fire Chief Jeff Day says the safety of the community and firefighters is their top priority. He reports that the surveys allow firefighters to be better prepared, make faster decisions, and protect lives and property more effectively when every second counts.

Fire personnel may be seen visiting properties in uniform and department-marked vehicles. All information collected is securely stored and used solely for emergency planning and response.
