The TTown Wooden Shoes lost to Sacred Heart Griffin in the 1a baseball state finals in Champaign 5-4.  Thomas Lauterbach hit the walk-off hit for the 2nd straight game.  The Shoes led 4-3 in the top of the sixth on a Davin Worman single.  But SHG would answer back with a run in the bottom of the inning setting up the dramatic finish.  It’s the 3rd state title and first since 1987 for Griffin who finished 26-8.  The Shoes finish 30-6.

Eureka won the 3rd place game over Newman Central Catholic 9-3.

In Class 1a, Father McGivney was just 2 outs from their first ever state title at the University of Illinois, but Ottawa Marquette mounted a 2-run rally in the bottom of the seventh and the Crusaders walked it off 6-5.  McGivney finishes the year 38-4, the winningest season in program history and their 2nd runner up trophy since 2021.  Ottawa wins their 2nd straight state title and 3rd in program history finishing 35-3.  They won their final 18 games of the season.

Pawnee won the 3rd place game over Lexington 9-4.
