The Class 1a/2a state final four begins today at the University of Illinois in Champaign.
The 2a semifinals begin at 4pm with 34-4 Eureka Hornets from the Heart of Illinois Conference taking on the Central State Eight’s Sacred Heart Griffin Cyclones who are 24-8.
Then at 7pm, the TTown Wooden Shoes will take on Newman Central Catholic. TTown is 29-5 and have had to come from behind in their last at bat in the last two games just to make it to state. Coach Justin Fleener leads a program that has more than it’s fair share of post season success in the program’s storied history. They are making their 14th appearance with state titles in 2010, 11, 17 and 19 all under coach Fleener. They take on the Comets who are 28-7 from the Three Rivers Athletic Conference. They lost in the 2a 3rd place game a year ago.
The first 1a semifinal will feature the 19-11 Lexington Minutemen of the Heart of Illinois Conference taking on The Ottawa Marquette Crusaders from the Tri-County Conference with a record of 33-3 at 10am.
37-3 Griffins of Father McGivney taking on 24-13 Pawnee Indians making their first ever state appearance at 1pm.
