Casey Westfield will take on Carrollton in the first 1a semifinal at 10am. Casey is 34-3 as they beat Waltonville in the SIU Super Sectionals to advance to coach Dalton McFarland’s 2nd state tournament in his 8 years as coach. The program has 7 state titles under their belt. They will take on Carrollton who enters with an amazing 36-1 record from the Western Illinois Valley Conference. Winners of the Athens Super, the school is looking for their first ever state title.
The other semifinal at 12:30 is between 34-5 LeRoy Panthers and 25-5 Dakota Lady Indians. LeRoy is out of the Heart of Illinois Conference and won the Illinois Wesleyan Super Sectional. Dakota is from the Northwest Uptown Illini Conference. Jeff Kinney is in his 16th year and making his first ever trip to state. It’s only the 2nd trip ever in program history.
