Mt. Vernon Festivals, Inc. is proud to announce the official theme for the 2025 Fall Fest: “Small Town, Common Ground.” The theme is inspired by the city’s newest downtown destination, The Commons.   The theme celebrates the unity, spirit, and shared experiences that bring our community together.

Fall Fest 2025 is set to take place September 26–27th.  The Director of Tourism and Festivals Angela Schrum, says the festival will showcase the very best of small-town charm while highlighting The Commons, a vibrant public space designed to be a hub of connection, celebration, and everyday enjoyment for residents and visitors alike.

Schrum says this year’s theme is a tribute to what makes Mt. Vernon special—our people, our traditions, and our ability to come together in meaningful ways.

Small Town, Common Ground is more than just a slogan—it’s a reflection of the heart and the vision behind The Commons as a place where everyone belongs.”

Festival goers can expect a full weekend of live music, local food, arts and crafts, family-friendly entertainment, a kid’s zone, parade, and more. In keeping with the theme, there will also be special programming at The Commons, including a pre-parade health expo, local entertainment, and community showcases.

“Our entertainment lineup this year will truly reflect the theme—we’re bringing in acts that connect with all generations and unite us through music and fun,” said Jason Hulbert, Festivals President and Entertainment Chair.

“We’re planning a food vendor experience that brings people together, offering a taste of tradition and creativity,” said Lisa Damron, Festivals Vice President and Food Vendor Chair. “Just like the theme suggests, food is one of those common grounds where everyone can find something they love.”

“This year’s parade will really drive home the idea of unity,” said Patrick Keyser, Board Member and Parade Chair. “We’re encouraging schools, civic groups, and businesses to show what Small Town, Common Ground means to them—it’s going to be a powerful community moment.”

Organizers encourage local businesses, schools, and community groups to incorporate the theme into their parade floats, booth designs, and festival activities.
