Both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment following a two-vehicle crash on the Boyd Road intersection in northern Jefferson County on Monday.
Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard says 70-year-old Susan Douglas of North Lincoln in Kinmundy was traveling westbound on Dix-Irvington Road when she made a left turn onto Boyd Road in front of an eastbound car driven by 30-year-old Kayla Morgan of Triangle Road in Mt. Vernon. The two vehicles hit nearly head-on.
Douglas was transferred to SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon and later transferred to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Morgan went to the hospital by private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred at 9:54 a.m. on Monday.
