The City of Centralia issued $2,488,248 in building permits in May, but more than $2 million was all for one project.

A $2,096,000 permit was issued to construct a solar array ground mount facility at the Beyer Science facility on U.S. 51 South.   Another six permits were issued for roof-mounted solar arrays at homes in the community.

There was also a permit issued to locate a mobile home at 1804 Dogwood.  The value of the home is placed at $87,365.

It was also a busy month for fence projects, with seven permits issued for new fences and seven more for fence replacement projects.  Permits were also issued for one new carport, one shed, and one above-ground pool.

There were six demolition permits issued.  Engineered Fluid, Inc. is tearing down homes at 428 Allison and 920 North Poplar.  Another home is being torn down at 1405 South Cherry.  Two buildings are being demolished at 112 East Broadway and 308 West Nobleman.  A permit was issued to demo a trailer at 1000 Gragg Street.
