The Centralia Annies advanced to the Triad 3a softball sectional finals after a 4-0 win over Olney. Maddy Francois pitched a complete game and struck out 13. Maddy and Kinslie Hawthorne had 2 RBI each and Kaylee Bowdler added 2 hits and 3 runs scored. The Annies are 25-3 on the season and will take on conference rival Marion in Friday’s title game at 4pm after their 3-1 win over Waterloo in the other semifinal.
Today in 3a softball sectionals, Mt Zion will take on the hosts at Chatham Glenwood.
In 4a sectional semifinals, Edwardsville beat Belleville East 7-6 in the Normal West Sectional in a game played at Mascoutah. They advance to play Bradley Bourbonnais in the finals after their 4-0 win over Minooka.
