TTown Gets Another Walk-Off Win, Headed To State
For the 2nd straight game the TTown Wooden Shoes trailed 5-0, including 5-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th but came back to walk it off 6-5 scoring 3 runs in the final inning. Teagan Pals played hero with the walk off to deep center field. Jason Kreke slid home and the team met him by mobbing him at the plate. TTown will play at 7pm Friday against Newman Central Catholic who beat Hope Academy 5-1 at Northwestern Medicine Field. Eureka and Sacred Heart Griffin will play in the other matchup.
Pawnee Heads To First Ever State Final Four With Comeback Win Over Waltonville
In 1a at SIU, Pawnee overcame a 4-1 deficit and earned its first berth in the Class 1a state semifinals edging Waltonville 5-4 at Itchy Jones Stadium. They capped their comeback with 2 runs in the top of the 7th scoring when Spartans 2nd baseman threw wildly to home on Coy Clarke’s bases-loaded chopper up the middle with one out. Waltonville’s season ends at 18-6.
Pawnee will play at 1pm Friday against the #1 team in 1a Father McGivney who beat Jacksonville Routt 4-3 in 8-innings. The game will be played at the U of I Field in Champaign. The other 1a semifinal will see Ottawa Marquette play Lexington.
