The Mount Vernon Lady Rams season came to a heartbreaking end in the Salem 3a Regional semifinal as they fell to Freeburg on a late score 1-0. Freeburg scored the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth. Danicah Tobin was great in the loss allowing no earned runs on four hits with 9 strikeouts and only 1 walk. In the game, Tobin also recorded career strikeout #500. Freeburg advances to Saturday’s championship game against Olney at 1pm at Tully Park.
In the 2a Murphysboro sectional, Carterville advances to the finals with their 3-1 win over Red Bud.
