The Salem Wildcats scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and go on to beat visiting Mt Vernon 3-1. It’s the 2nd win over the Rams this year for the Wildcats who opened the season with a win on the road at the Rams. Aden Bass drove in all 3 runs for the Cats. Cody Beard doubled as Salem only had 3 hits on the day.
Noah Nix threw the complete game allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run with 9 strikeouts. Cale Maurer took the loss for the Rams going six innings allowing 3 hits and also struck out 9.
