The Salem Wildcats honored their 9 seniors before their game with Mattoon and then beat the visiting Green Wave 2-1. The big blow came in the bottom of the 6th with the game tied at 1-1 when Ryan Detering hit a solo homer to right to give Salem the 2-1 lead. Rhett Detering would finish off the complete game on the mound and nail it down in the 7th. Rhett allowed just 2 hits and no earned runs with 10 strikeouts. Jalen Inlow, Aden Bass and Noah Nix all doubled with Rhett Detering also singling. The Wildcats are back at home today with an added game to their schedule hosting Mt Vernon.
