Odin Mayor Greg Smith was sworn in for an additional four years as mayor at Thursday night’s meeting.   Smith has just completed a two-year unexpired term in the position.

One new council member was sworn in.  Teresa Parrish took the oath of office for a four-year term with Brian Vowell and Terry Nix who were re-elected to the board.   Susan Gordon is continuing to serve as clerk until someone can be found to fill the position.  She did not seek re-election.

Smith and Odin Police Chief Joe Nix both warned of a crackdown of those with ordinance violations after the village and Odin Township cleanup that is underway this weekend.  Dumpsters will be available west of the Odin School through Sunday, but only for items from Odin Township residents that can be taken to a landfill.

The Odin Board has agreed to complete the installation of water meters that can be held remotely.   The remaining meters that need to be installed are in the village limits.   The cost will be paid from money on hand in the water fund.

The board approved staying in the electric aggregation program for the coming months with AGE.  Village residents in the program will pay 11.789 cents, below the rate that will be offered this summer by Ameren.  A letter announcing the new agreement has been sent to all residents.  They don’t need to do anything if they wish to remain on the aggregation program.

The board agreed to purchase a new mosquito sprayer for $2,500.  A $2,500 donation was approved for the Odin Firemen’s Picnic to help pay for the fireworks display.

The board approved a one-year contract with Glass and Shuffet for the audit at a cost of $7,700.  That’s $400 more than last year.

After a closed session, the board named Rudy Walker as lead water and street worker with a $3 an hour raise.  The other two fulltime employees will get a $2 raise and the part-time worker $1 an hour.
