The pilot of a single engine plane was not injured when the nose of the plane struck the runway at Mt. Vernon Outland Airport late Sunday afternoon.
Mt. Vernon City Firemen say the pilot was practicing touch and goes in a plane she was not familiar with when the incident occurred. The nose of the plane was damaged. Mt. Vernon Firemen stationed at the airport station responded to assist.
There were no passengers in the plane.
The incident occurred at 4:49 Sunday afternoon.
