Mt Vernon Lady Rams split a pair of softball games on Saturday. They beat Belleville West 2-1. Taylor DeSmith was great in the circle surrendering 4 hits and no earned runs. She had 8 strikeouts in the complete game win. Paige Watson and Allie Sweeten each drove in a run. Arwyn Wilkey went 2-4.
Mt Vernon then fell to Calhoun 3-1. Danicah Tobin started the game for Mt Vernon allowing just one earned run and struck out 5. DeSmith led Mt Vernon with an RBI going 1-3. Lexi Howard went 2-3.
