The Salem Wildcats were tied 3-3 in the top of the sixth with Columbia, but the Eagles would plate 5 runs in the frame and pull away to win 8-3 and avenge an earlier loss to Salem this week. The Cats only had 1 hit on the day, a Noah Nix single that scored a pair. Aden Bass also had an RBI groundout to account for the Salem runs. Rhett Detering took the loss going 5.2 allowing 6 hits and only 3 earned runs. Cooper Lobek got the final 4 outs. The Cats are 11-12 on the season and will finish up Cahokia Conference play on Monday with a trip to Roxana.
South Central earned a 9-0 home win over visiting Edwards County. The Cougars scored 7 runs in the second inning as Colton Smith singled scoring a pair. Chase Guerrettaz doubled scoring 2 more with Maddox Robb grounding out to score another and Luke Shumate drew a bases loaded walk. Callaway Smith was the winning pitcher giving up 3 hits and six strikeouts with only 1 walk. Guerrettaz drove in 3 runs and Colton Smith went 2-3 with 2 RBI.
