A single-wide mobile home received substantial damage in a fire that broke out late Wednesday evening at 1231 Britt Road east of Patoka.
Patoka Fire Chief Blake Hyde says the Sam Britt family was woke up by a smoke detector and were all able to escape without injury. The fire appears to have started near the end of the couch and end table in the living room, where there was an electrical outlet with items plugged in. The fire had started moving into the attic before the firemen arrived.
Hyde says the fire caused heavy damage to the living room, with heat and smoke damage throughout the home.
The State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate, but so far no cause has been determined.
Patoka Firemen received assistance on the scene from Sandoval Firemen and the Patoka Ambulance.
The fire call came in at 11:54 Wednesday night, with firemen on the scene for about two hours.
