“Dancing Through the Decades” is the theme of this year’s May Fete at Centralia High School. The 112th annual May Fete will feature performances to a variety of music from the past century. CHS Teacher and May Fete co-coordinator Kalani Aydt is excited for the show.

“Each performance is highlighting a different decade. We have all the way from the 20s through the 2010s,” Aydt said. “Our color scheme is a little bit retro, and I think it’s going to be so much fun.”

Aydt has been working with Coordinator Jordan Coffey to organize the production. Coffey highlighted this year’s May Pole performance as standing out from past years with its music selection.

“Our music selections for May Pole are a little bit different than what we’ve seen in the past. We’ve got music from the 70s, 80s, early 2000s, and 2010s, so we really took the Dancing Through the Decades theme to heart.”

Coffey noted the importance of staff volunteers who are willing to step up and do their part to make May Fete possible.

“At Centralia High School we’re really good about stepping in when needed. Dr. Shipley was actually our emcee last night, taking the place of Kyle Blanchard, who will be emceeing through the rest,” Coffey said. “It’s really important for me to know that there’s a lot of hands needed to make a performance like this happen. Being able to reach into the faculty and staff throughout the process for assistance is really important. We have quite a few people who are involved in May Fete staff as technical coordinators throughout the different aspects.”

May Fete takes place Thursday and Friday. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show begins at 8:00 p.m. Tickets will be available to purchase at the door for those who have not ordered tickets in advance.
