The Salem boys track team had a strong showing, finishing 3rd overall at the Mt. Vernon Invite.
Miking Ettress won the long jump with a mark of 21’ and placed 3rd in the 200 (22.88). Also in field events, Trey Clark took 3rd in discus, DJ Kaufman was 2nd in shot put, and Silas Lux placed 3rd. Holden Richardson (pole vault), Madden Thompson (high jump), and Riley Tate (triple jump) all earned 3rd-place finishes.
The 4×800 team of Purintun, Shober, Spencer, and Malan claimed 1st with a time of 8:37.83. Alex Spencer also took 3rd in the 800 (2:03.7).
In Fr/So relays, the 4×100 team (A. Gullion, Clark, Miraglia, Lowry) finished 2nd (48.41), the 4×200 team (Tate, Keele, Miraglia, Clark) was 2nd (1:40.96), and the 4×400 team (A. Gullion, P. Gullion, Spencer, Thompson) won with a 3:41.04.
The varsity 4×200 team (Thompson, Malan, A. Gullion, Ettress) placed 3rd in 1:34.31.
Robbie Shober ran a 4:40.59 mile and was second beating his PR by 6 seconds.
Salem is back in action next Tuesday at the Cahokia Conference Meet in Chester.
