A 37-year-old Salem man has been sentenced to four years in prison for stalking.

Dustin Ferrell of West Warmoth pleaded guilty in Marion County Court to two separate charges involving incidents that occurred in Salem businesses.   The time spent on both charges will run concurrently.

The first incident occurred between August 28th and September 11th of last year when Ferrell is charged with entering a 16-year-old girl’s place of employment and sometimes sitting, watching and staring at her making her paranoid.

The second incident occurred in March of this year when Ferrell went to a downtown business multiple times making unwelcome comments to the owner.

Ferrell had earlier been charged with aggravated battery to a nurse and was out on pretrial release when the initial stalking incident occurred.  He was then held in the Marion County Jail following the March incident.

As part of the plea, Ferrell had the aggravated battery to a nurse dropped and was given credit for 54 days served in the Marion County Jail since his March arrest.

Ferrell was recommended for substance abuse treatment while in prison and was fined $75.   He’ll have to complete four years of mandatory supervised release when getting out of prison.
