The Salem Food Pantry at Grace United Methodist Church has begun offering free care packages containing a variety of women’s hygiene products to anyone that needs them.

Each package contains a selection of pads, tampons, panty liners, and wet wipes. This new program was spearheaded by local college student Melanie Knaak.

“Women need to have access to this because toiletries should not be a luxury for women. It should be easily accessible.”

Knaak was inspired to do this after seeing the rising prices of toiletries and the difficulty impoverished women had at attaining them.
