 Wildcats Get Huge Win at Columbia…JV Drops 15th Straight

The Salem Wildcats upset Columbia on the road 4-2.  Salem scored in the top of the first when Noah Nix singled home a run.  Salem would add to that and take a 4-0 lead after 2 innings.  Nix would allow 7 hits and 1 earned run over 6 innings in the win.  He struck out 8. Rhett Detering got the final 3 outs in the 7th for the save. Nix drove in 2 runs, Jalen Inlow had 2 hits with Keaton Gullion reaching base 3 times and scoring.

The Salem JV dropped their 15th straight game after starting the season 2-0 as they fell to Columbia 8-3 despite outhitting the Eagles 8-7. Salem committed 8 errors on the day leading to 5 unearned runs.  Luke Boldt doubled going 2-4 with Logan Butts adding 2 hits.  Boldt also worked 5 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 earned runs.  Scout Puricelli worked the final 2 innings.

The Salem Wildcats varsity will head to Lions Field in Kinmundy for a game today with the South Central Cougars.


WSS Walks Off In 8 Innings On SC

South Central is coming off a 5-4 extra inning walk-off loss to Windsor/Stew-Stras.  Seth Rincker provided the game winning single in the bottom of the 8th.  Ben Bridges added a Hatchets homer.  Colton Smith homered for the Cougars.  Zane Montes drove in a run along with Evan Hoover.


Orphans Fall To Mauer & the Rams In Dual

The Orphans and Rams will play again this afternoon, this time in Centralia.  Yesterday, both teams were strong on the bump but Mt Vernon was just a little stronger at the plate as they scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat Centralia 3-0.  Cale Maurer went the distance for the Rams allowing 3 hits and struck out 14.  He outdueled freshman Archie Goewey who struck out 5 and through his 6 innings of work.  The Rams took the lead on a wild pitch followed by a sacrifice fly from Tyler Curry and a big RBI double from Bronx Hefner.  Xavier Koch, Michael Organ and Gabe Houser had the Orphans hits.


CC Gets 4 RBI In Stallions Win

Colton Cartright drove in 4 runs to lead Christ Our Rock over Maryville Christian 11-2.  Garrett Denton was the starter allowing 3 hits and 2 runs over 5 innings.  Drew Leuking worked the final 2 innings.  Blake Hanke drove in 2 runs, Cartright doubled and Evan Beal added a triple going 3-4.


OPS Falls To Cisne

Odin/Patoka/Sandoval fell to Cisne 8-6.  Austin Hoffman and Bo Chapman drove in 2 runs each for OPS.  Camden Parrish added a hit and RBI.  Drew Haines was the starter going 4 innings with Spencer working the final 2.
