The Christ Our Rock Lutheran High Boys Track and Field Team had 7 personal records, and 1 season’s best recorded Monday at the Jared Morris Invitational at Nashville, IL.
Jr. Landyn Mitchell was again impressive, winning the 110Hurdles (:15.15), the 300IM Hurdles (:41.72) and placing 2nd in the Long Jump (22’03’) and Triple Jump (42′ 6.75″). Mitchel scored 36 points in the meet for the Stallions for the 4th time this season.
Coach Tim Coach said, “He just keeps proving himself over and over again! And I know he won’t be satisfied until he gets the ultimate goal of a IHSA State Championship!”
Other Stallions scoring points in today’s meet were Soph. Alton Davis 5th in the 400 meter dash (:55.38). Soph. Carson Pigg 5th in the 1600 meter run, running his fastest time ever (4:53.5), and Sr. Isaiah Lyons was 6th in the 200 meter dash (:24.18).
The Stallions tallied 47 total points and finished 7th out of 15 teams, despite only running each person in minimal events, as to not tire out legs with their Gateway Metro Athletic Conference meet coming up on Wednesday of this week.
However as earlier mentioned the Stallions would still record 7 Personal Records including Sr. Zerek Koch with his fastest 1600 meter ever in 5:04.9, Soph. Sergio Fernandez a PR in the 100 meter (:12.87), Soph Anderson Engele a PR in the 200 meter (:26.10), Soph. Wyatt Gregory a PR in the 800 meter (2:14.4), Jr. Liagel Lyons also a PR in the 800 meter (2:41.1), Freshman Cameron Jones a PR in the 3200 meter run (13:07.4), and as mentioned Carson Pigg in the 1600 meter run (4:53.5). Soph. Aiden Hildreth also recorded a season’s best in the 400 meter dash(1:01.9).
The Stallions will now load up on events and look to be competitive in a loaded Gateway Metro Athletic Conference Meet on Wednesday, where their Seniors will be recognized!
Koch added, “I feel like a lot of our runners were given the opportunity to see what they could do, with just 1 or 2 individual events on their plate today and they did not disappoint!” “These PR’s today, along with our athletes that placed in their events in a very strong Invitational today, shows that these kids want to get better every time they compete!” “I’m very excited for all the accomplishments today and looking forward to seeing our athletes improve even more upon the marks that were set today in the remaining meets this season!”
