The Salem Lions Club is seeking donations for the Salem Community High School Post Prom early Saturday morning.

Retired Salem High Athletic Director Scott Steward remains involved because he feels the program helps keep kids safe.

“I think it’s important that our local Lions continue the tradition of providing a safe environment for our students at SCHS to stay after prom,” Steward said. “It’s just a safe, fun environment where they can come and eat, be with their friends and celebrate their career coming through SCHS. We’re just proud that we can continue doing this for the students at Salem Community High School.”

But the Post Prom comes with a cost.  Tabitha Meador, who chairs the event, says donations from businesses make the event possible.

“We will accept any sort of donations, whether it’s a door prize that we will give away to students during the event or monetary donations that we use to pay for everything,” Meador said. “We provide food for the kids. We purchase door prizes ourselves along with entertainment. Kim’s Party Jumps, the DJ, and a variety of entertainment for the event. We will accept monetary donations or door prizes themselves.”

Meador says any donations, whether prizes, cash, or checks, can be dropped off this week at the main office at Salem Community High School.  You can contact Assistant Principal Clint Wolfe with any questions.

Post Prom will run from midnight to three am, after the Friday evening prom.  Some large prizes are saved to the end to keep students there the entire length of Post Prom.
