The heavy rains Easter weekend caused the Salem Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt at Bryan Memorial Park and the Wamac Easter Egg Hunt at the Wamac Park to be delayed until this past Sunday.
Wamac Mayor Butch Mathis says about 650 kids took part in the Wamac hunt collecting 15,000 eggs. A number were rewarded with bicycles and Easter baskets. He says there was a light rain through some of the event, but it didn’t seem to bother the kids.
The hunt in Salem was changed to a drive-through event where kids were handed eggs through vehicle windows as their parents drove by the band stage in Bryan Memorial Park. Vehicles lined up double file at two pm, and those winning prize eggs were told to stop near the Salem Aquatic Center, where they exchanged their eggs for prizes.
