Wildcats Fall To Freeburg….BSE Falls In Walk-Off, Marion Nips Mt Vernon in 10, TTown Outguns Mt Zion…Prep Baseball Roundup

The Salem Wildcats are in action today at home against Mater Dei this afternoon.  Salem’s slide continued as they fell to 8-10 and 2-4 in the Cahokia Conference with a road loss at Freeburg.  Salem trailed 3-1 after the opening inning but would battle back to tie the game at 4 after 4.5 innings.  But, Freeburg would plate 6 runs in the fifth to take a commanding lead they would not surrender.  Jalen Inlow, Cody Beard, Ryan Detering and Keaton Gullion had 2 hits each with Ryan driving in 3 runs.  Inlow, Gullion and Aden Bass had the other Salem RBI.  Rhett Detering took the loss allowing 8 hits and 6 earned runs in 4.1 innings with Inlow and Carter Lowe getting the final 5 outs.

The Salem JV fell to 2-13 with their 10-3 loss to Freeburg.  Evan Barnes and Luke Boldt led the offense for Salem with doubles. Boldt and Jaxon Ward drove in the Salem runs as they Wildcats could only muster 3 hits.  Scout Puricelli had a single and scored twice.  Boldt took the loss allowing 6 earned in 5 innings. Max Vincent got the final 2 innings of work.

Brownstown/St Elmo walked off on Odin/Patoka/Sandoval 6-5 on a Graiden Wilhour single.  Drew Haines single but the Eagles on the board in the first.  Kyan Walker extended their lead to 2-0 with a steal of home.  Heydin Purcell then singled to right to tie the game at 3 in the top of the fifth.  Then down 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Haines would come up with a double to tie the game before the Wilhour heroics.  Lance Nix worked 4 innings for OPS, Tyler Huffman took the loss in relief.  OPS is at Centralia on Monday.

Marion knocked off Mt Vernon 3-2 in 10 innings.  Eli Prost, Tyler Curry and Bronx Hefner drove in Rams runs.  Maxwell Nowak was the starter going 6.2 of 3 hits ball.  Ryker Perigo worked 3 innings taking the loss in relief.  The Rams are 5-12 overall and 2-2 in the South 7.

TTown beat Southeast Iowa pitching recruit and Mt Zion standout Andrew Tay 5-0 behind a terrific pitching performance by the Shoes Aidan Niemerg.  He went 6.1 allowing just 2 hits.  Caleb Deters then got the final 2 outs to improve the Shoes to 15-2.

Charlie Spour drove in five runs on two hits to lead St Anthony over Mater Dei 9-7.  Aiden Lauritzen went 3-5.  Brock Fearday would homer going 2-5 with 3 RBI.  Brady Hatton was the winning pitcher striking out 7.
