Two teenage boys praised for helping senior citizens out of burning apartment building in Nashville, IL

Nashville Police are crediting two teenage boys for assisting residents out of the Village 1 Apartment complex on North Hoffman Street in Nashville after a large fire started in an upstairs apartment.

Police report the two teenage boys made numerous trips up and down the stairs helping in an evacuation before Nashville and Okawville Police and Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene and also helped residents out of the smoke and flames.  A press release notes these officers and teenage boys undoubtedly played a major role in saving numerous lives by risking their own without hesitation.

Fire officials were able to quickly get the fire under control.

As a result of this fire, several individuals were transported to the hospital by ambulance or helicopter.    Although this incident is an absolute tragedy, no lives were lost and an amazing group of people came together to save lives.

A State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
