The Terry Heern Invitational was held yesterday at Jim Finks Field. O’Fallon Carriel, Fulton, Mascoutah, Centralia, Mt Vernon, Flora, Olney and Salem competed. 14 state standards were met by Salem athletes along with 28 personal records and 2 meet records.
The Salem girls scored 129 points to beat Mascoutah with 115 and Carriel with 96 Mascoutah won the boys side with 133 followed by Salem 109 and Carriel 84.
On the girls side, Emily Parrett set a new meet record in the shot put tying her school record at 37’. Braelen Kaak then set a new meet record in the discus with her winning throw of 93’2.5’’ with Parrett 2nd. Teagan Lobek won the pole vault at 7’6’’, the 6th grade girls 4×100 relay team of Watson, Carroll, Kuhns and Hudson won.
For the Bobcats, Kylan Cassidy and Elijah Swieca went 1-2 in the shot with Owen Tennyson and Cassidy doing it in the discus. Kaiden Washington and Owen Tennyson went 1-2 in the high jump.
Also at the meet, Flora’s Adara Smith won the long jump with a new meet record jump of 15’8’’ and is also a PR. The Flora school record is only 3 inches away and Smith is determined to reach that goal before the end of the year.
