Richards had decided not to run for re-election but then agreed to serve another two years until the next election.

Hartley had earlier filled out an unexpired term on the Salem Grade School Board earlier and said she missed it when the term ended leading her to seek election in April.

The board created a new insurance committee that will include representatives from staff, administration and school board.  The committee will look at the district’s health insurance coverage following the financial difficulties the Egyptian Trust.

In personnel news, the board hired Brittnie Chambers as Secretary at Hawthorn School and Shandi Schaubert as Cheerleading Coach for the upcoming school year.
