A 40-year-old rural Odin man has been sentenced to six years in prison for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.  Blake Hills of Norton Road admitted having a 12-gauge shotgun in his possession after being convicted as a felon.   Seven other counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon along with single counts unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and armed violence were dropped.

Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps said earlier Hills was arrested on the charges after a search warrant was executed on his home last December and the firearm, ammunition, and a controlled substance were all recovered.   The search warrant was executed as deputies were searching for a weapon used during an armed robbery of a man taking a test drive in a car.

The person who allegedly committed the armed robbery, 40-year-old Lloyd McMullin of North Everett in Odin, was earlier sentenced to four years in prison.

In addition to the six-year prison term, Hills will have to serve six months court supervision when getting out of jail, pay a $75 fine, and given credit for 127 days already served in prison.
